Intruder alarm systems have become as recognized as cancer preventions today, but not used as regularly. Thieves are like a cancer in many ways. They target vulnerable areas, and when they are not stopped they continue to spread to stronger areas.
Each and every person has the option of installing a basic model in their house, but many choose to not do so. If every person were to install an intruder model in their home, the number of homes that are burgled each year would fall rapidly. The knowledge that a very small percentage of the population bother to secure their homes with alarm systems is very re-assuring for burglars.
This can be seen when comparing the number of businesses that are broken into against the number of homes that are broken into each year. Businesses do not see as many intruders each year due to the common knowledge that every business is routinely set up with an alarm system before moving in any valuables. Burglars do not like a challenge so homes are the easy option for their rampages.
How communities can help?
It is time that communities came together and very publicly made a stand against the thieves in the world. When someone’s home is robbed they do not only lose the many things that they have worked for years to obtain. They lose the feeling of being safe in their own home. They experience feelings of being violated, and often feel vulnerable in other areas of their life. Intruder alarm systems are often purchased when a close friend or family member’s home has been broken into, but this should not be the only time that this becomes a priority.
Many communities have monthly community meetings. One of the topics that should be brought up at these meetings is putting alarm systems in every home. Surely this is more important than discussing the house with the nicest garden this month. If potential thieves knew that communities were making security in every home a top priority, the idea of an easy way to make money by committing a crime would quickly be no longer an option.
Benefits of intruder alarm systems
Having an alarm system in every house will not just be a deterrent to thieves. Many people pay high cost home owner’s insurance, but if alarms became a staple in every home like a television there would be massive savings. Insurance companies would have to re-structure their rates to include communities that mandate that every home-owner and renter has and maintains an alarm in their home.
These communities would benefit from lower rates. This would create a domino effect in more communities to start the same guidelines with every person in their community. This would make the newspapers and would soon be talked about all over the country. House burglaries would nearly cease to exist. Thieves will have to look for a new opportunity to steal when they know it is a priority in the community to stop them and that all appropriate measures are being taken.
